September is National Fruits and Veggies month!! At Morningstar, we feel that nutrition is especially important for our little people because it is directly linked to all aspects of their growth and development, factors which have direct ties to their level of health as an adult. We want to promote a better quality of life by instilling proper nutrition trends in our children. What we learn as children is perpetuate through our lives. By teaching our kids at MLC healthy eating habits now, we will perpetuate healthy lifestyles for them and get them on their path to lasting wellness.
5 Tips for making healthy foods more fun for KIDS!!
- Let them pick the fruit/veggies for their own creations of caterpillar kabobs!
For kid friendly recipes ideas, MLC has a stack of nutritional information and recipe ideas inside the entrance.
Special Thanks to all those who helped organize, donated items and volunteered time during Morningstar’s YARD SALE!!!! We had great items to browse through and had a nice turn out! All items not sold during the Yard Sale were donated. Thanks Again from Morningstar Learning Center!!
We are encouraging the children to be responsible for themselves here at Morningstar. Students learn independence by putting their own lunch away, signing in, and showing others where they are playing by moving their “traveling turtles” around the centers. Students are also responsible for recycling their own recyclables, putting dirty dishes in the dirty dish bin and cleaning up their snack and lunch area. Your teachers are working hard to create lessons which are developmentally appropriate for all developmental levels and yet are challenging and interesting for all students.
To help assist your MLC staff, please take time each morning to help your child with their sign in process. Students, not parents, should put jacket and backpack into their cubby and place their lunch on the lunch shelf. Students are then asked to sign in. If your child is still working on writing skills, please assist them by showing them how to write and have them copy your movements. Staff is available to help, but parents should take an active role in this morning routine. Children are then asked to wash their hands and check into a center. By assisting your child, they are receiving the attention they all strive for in the morning and can feel good about showing their parents how they improve as the year progresses.
Thanks for your support and feel free to discuss your child and the school with any of the staff here at Morningstar Learning Center.
